I'ts the time of year again when we relish the mild temperatures and consider our back porch a haven. One of the things we love to do is watch the birds flitter and the rabbits frolick in the backyard. You can't beat free family entertainment, right? Well, when I came across this frugal recipe for hummingbird nectar, I knew I had to try it.
Use this recipe below and sit and watch the hummingbirds from your yard chair or window. They will love you for it.
Homemade Hummingbird Nectar Recipe:
2 cups water, boiling
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Add sugar to boiling water and bring back to a quick boil. Remove from heat and cool. Once completely cooled, add to your hummingbird feeder. Remember to dispose of the nectar after 3 days and replace with a new batch.
Never add artificial sweetners or honey as it may be lethal to birds. Do not add food coloring since it could also be unhealthy to our feathered friends.
